Paddling and Kayaking

 Paddling 2015 

  

Announcing the region's first adaptive paddling program, specifically designed to assist people with disabilities. Join us this summer for lessons with recreation therapists trained in paddling techniques and skills. All participants are asked to come with a buddy - a family member, friend or caregiver - or to request a volunteer paddling buddy upon registration. No experience is required. A lifeguard will be on duty at all times.

Introduction to Kayaking

Come out and give it a try! We offer paddling opportunities in a safe and supportive environment with various levels of support and adaptations as needed for individual success.

Single kayaking lesson 

  • Thursday, July 13 from 10:00am - 12:00pm
  • Saturday, August 12 from 10:00am - 12:00pm

Cost: $45

Where: Sunset Lake

 

Sunset Lake Spectacular

Come experience the enjoyment of kayaking in a safe and social atmosphere. For new or beginner kayakers wanting to learn or advance their kayaking skills.

3-day Session 

  • Tuesdays, July 11, 18, 25 from 12:30pm - 2:30pm
  • Wednesdays, July 12, 19, 26 from 10:00am - 12:00pm
  • Tuesdays, August 8, 15, 22 from 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Cost: $120 for the 3-day session

Where: Sunset Lake

 

Monadnock Waterway Adventures

These excursions are for kayakers who have developed basic kayaking knowledge and want to advance their skills. We will be exploring the local waterways of the region such as Gregg Lake in Antrim and Powder Mill Pond in Hancock.

3-day Session 

  • Fridays, July 14, 21, 28 from 10:00am - 12:00pm or 12:30pm - 2:30pm
  • Fridays, August 11, 18, 25 from 10:00am - 12:00pm or 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Cost: $150 for the 3-week session

Where: local waterways in the Monadnock Region

 

Lessons for Students in the School
  • Tuesdays, July 11, 18, 25 from 10:00am - 12:00pm
  • Wednesdays, July 12, 19, 24 from 12:30pm - 2:30pm
  • Tuesdays, August 8, 15, 22 from 10:00am - 12:00pm

Cost: 

$45 for single lesson

$120 for 3-day session

Participants will learn
  • Boat safety
  • Effective paddling techniques
  • Adapting equipment for success
  • Safe boat entry and exit to meet your specific needs 
 
Each course provides:
  • All equipment (tandem kayaks, paddles and personal floatation devices)
  • Instruction and facilitation of lesson in a structured, supportive and safe environment (up to two hours by certified therapeutic recreation specialists trained in kayaking skills and techniques)
  • Accessible dock and transfer area 
  • Assistance provided with transfer to enter and exit the kayak
  • Any modifications and/or adaptations to equipment (seating, kayaks, paddles, etc) for optimal success and safety
  • Small group size (max. six students) with 1 to 1 support (Participants are asked to come with a support person, a family member or friend to provide support during the lesson and in the tandem kayak) 
  • Lifeguard on duty during all lessons
