The Concord Monitor ran on Satuday in its print edition about Atech Services transferring to the state of NH from Crotched Mountain’s oversight. To be clear, CROTCHED MOUNTAIN IS NOT CEASING OPERATIONS AND WE ARE NOT BEING TAKEN OVER BY DHHS. The story’s caption and headline are incorrect.
Only the services Atech provides are moving to the state and NO OTHER SERVICES ARE AFFECTED, including the Refurbished Equiment Marketplace and Ready Set Connect.
Effective March 1, 2019, assistive technology services provided by ATECH will transition to other providers in the Granite state. ATECH will work with clients, DHHS staff, and the State’s two Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), New Hampshire Healthy Families and Well Sense Health Plan, to ensure the transition is as smooth and successful as possible. These services include evaluation, recommendations, and support for assistive technology devices for people with disabilities.
ATECH was operated by Crotched Mountain for the last ten years and had always required large subsidies from Crotched Mountain Foundation to stay open (even before the acquisition, ATECH required subsidies). Over the last ten years, Crotched Mountain subsidized ATECH at a figure of $5 million.
Clients who are scheduled to receive initial assistive technology assessments from ATECH will be contacted by the Department or their respective MCO to proactively make arrangements for any necessary consultations in advance of the scheduled transition on March 1, 2019 . New clients should work with their health plans or the Department to identify providers to meet their specific needs.
