Crotched Mountain Foundation is following guidance from the CDC, the Department of Education, and New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) in regards to proper precautions and preparedness measures that are being taken. We will continue to follow updates and work with the CDC and DPHS as information regarding COVID-19 progresses.

UPDATE (3-29-2020)

Effective immediately we have implemented Phase 4 of our Illness Prevention Plan, which includes these action steps:

  • Academics will be conducted in the residences beginning Tuesday, March 30
  • All residences are practicing shelter-in-place protocols per state and CDC guidelines
  • Campus travel will be restricted to programs and immediate areas
  • Walks and outdoor activities can be conducted with social distancing intacta
  • There will be no access to the cafeteria and all meals will be delivered to the residences

UPDATE (3-23-2020)

Effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Crotched Mountain Greenfield campus and off-mountain residentual programs will be closed to all visitors, including parents and guardians. In-person meetings will curtailed and any staff that can work remote, will.

In addition, the pool will be closed and the gymnasium will be restricted to small groups. The RIDGE afterschool program has been suspended. The cafeteria will be taken offline with meals on a pick-up and to-go basis. Additional buildings will come offline to cut down on foot traffic and strengthen environmental prevention efforts.

Additional distance learning packages for day students are currently being prepared by Crotched Mountain teachers.

Services Updates

As per recommendations from the State of New Hampshire, effective 3/16/2020:

  • Crotched Mountain School: Day students are remaining home until April 3, but will be given educational packets and teacher support throughout the next few weeks. Following a thorough deep clean in the school, residential students will return to the school building starting Wednesday March 18 with modified schedules and restrictions. 
  • Ready Set Connect: All services at our Ready Set Connect autism centers have been suspended until April 2 (and then re-evaluated at that point).
  • Adult Services: Day services will continue with tighter restrictions and precautions
  • CMCC: Face-to-face home visits have been suspended
  • REM: Customers will be served with all germ prevention precautions in play

Visitor Restrictions

  • Crotched Mountain programs (Crotched Mountain School, Ready Set Connect, Adult Services, Community Care) will no longer accept any visitors from the public 
  • Vendors will be screened for symptoms of illness and not allowed access to physical locations if they are exhibiting symptoms
  • Only parents and guardians of students and adult clients will be allowed access to the Greenfield campus and off-mountain program locations, provided they are not exhibiting symptoms of illness or have traveled abroad (or been on a cruise) or believe they may have encountered someone ill
  • Parents and guardians visiting the Greenfield campus will schedule ahead of time and visits will be limited ot three hours in a designated Family Visit Area; access to all other campus locations will be prohibited
  • Scheduled appointments and meetings should be held via teleconference or rescheduled.
  • Upcoming school events will be cancelled or rescheduled.

UPDATE (3-15-2020)

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, Crotched Mountain School and Ready Set Connect will be closed until further notice.


On the Crotched Mountain School Greenfield campus, under the guidance of our medical professionals in the Educational Health Center, we are augmenting our existing germ prevention activities to be even more aggressive considering both the coronavirus as well as a particularly challenging flu season. We are grateful to have strong local resources to support our campus as needed. Appropriate precautions and prevention action steps will also be implemented in our off-mountain programs like Ready Set Connect, CMCC, and our adult programs.
