Choose your own adventure.

Crotched Mountain Accessible Recreation and Sports (CMARS) provides exciting outdoors experiences for people of all abilities. For CMARS participants, it doesn’t matter what they’ve been told they could or could not accomplish—with us, adventure will become a reality.

But it’s more than just the joy of sport. CMARS blends the thrill of skiing, cycling, kayaking (and much more) with the development of practical life skills. What’s the best use of motor movement to transfer into a boat? Which plan makes the most sense when orienteering Crotched Mountain’s world-class accessible hiking trail? What is the best grip for outriggers?

It’s all about achievement and independence, a person-centered approach to giving someone, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and recreation.

The CMARS Experience

CMARS is available to everyone in the community, delivering an adaptive recreation menu that spans casual outings to varied degrees of instruction. Our programming is customized and goal-oriented, taught by certified and licensed recreational therapists.

CMARS staff and volunteers are trained to work with individuals with varied physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities including autism spectrum disorders, brain injury, cerebral palsy, emotional disorders, neurological impairments, seizure disorders, sensory impairments, spinal cord injury and orthopedics. Additionally, CMARS provides recreation programming for senior citizens.
